Famous Poker Players: Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu

Daniel Negreanu was born in July 1974 in Toronto Canada.  Daniel's parents emigrated from Romainia to give their son a chance for a better life.  They were not expecting him to become a professional poker player, but as the money began to roll in they soon realised that his passion and incredible ability made this the ideal job for him.

Daniel Negreanu had an interest in gambling at an early age and was reportedly quite a good pool player and sports bettor.  By the time he reached 18, and therefore legal age to visit casinos in Canada, he was quite an accomplesed card player and made a reasonable living at it.

Doing a 'real' job was not what Daniel really had in mind despite his Mother's concern he only worked one day as a Telemarketer and a month at Subway.  He decided that cutting cards was more profitable than cutting sandwiches.

When Daniel Negreanu turned 21 he decided to head south and try his hand at playing poker in Las Vegas.  Despite his great ability he wound up broke within a year.  So he went back home and won back his bankroll and decided to take his shot again.  When he turned 22 he decided that this was certainly what he wanted to do with his life and commited completely to being a professional poker player.

At the age of 23 Daniel Negreanu became the youngest player to win a World Series Of Poker bracelet in a 1998 pot limit holdem tournament.  His success on the poker circuit since 1997 is unequalled.  He believes he has won somewhere in the region of $3-$4 million dollars.  And that's not Canadian dollars!
