Famous
Poker Players: Phil Hellmuth Jr.
Phil Hellmuth Jr.
Phil
Hellmuth Jr. is one of the best tournament poker players
of all time with a record nine wins at the WSOP including
his win at the main event over Johnny
Chan in 1989 when he was only 24. Johnny
Chan had already won in 1987 and 1988 so beating him
in 1989 was certainly a major achievement by any standards.
Only Johnny Chan
and poker legend Doyle
Brunson can match his gold bracelet collection.
Phil Hellmuth is also credited with being one of the top
money earners from the game having placed in over 35 major
events.
Unfortunately,
his great play is often marred by his poor attitude at
the table. He is often seen throwing a temper tantrum
when he loses a hand and insulting the way others play
the game. To Hellmuth second place is nowhere and
he is often seen making a fuss and looking like his dog
just died when he wins second place and several hundred
thousand dollars! |
